Kenny and I had our first date exactly six years before our wedding; we were introduced through our roommates while attending the University of Kentucky. It was a strong relationship from the beginning, and it had to be … we practically spent the first year and a half long distance. The semester following our first date, I left to study abroad in Switzerland. Meanwhile, Kenny graduated that May and moved to Chicago for work. Of course, it worked out in the end when we both found our way back to Louisville, where we now call home.

Our wedding day had a classic and timeless feel. I chose gray dresses for my bridesmaids because I wanted something neutral to go with the peach-colored flowers. These were inspired by my maiden name Peach and by my grandmother who loved to send peach roses. Our florist, Colonial Designs, did an incredible job putting this theme together.

The ceremony was held at St. Elizabeth Church, followed by the reception at The Olmsted. We wanted to incorporate our love for travel and showcase Kenny’s passion for writing into the wedding theme, too. At the reception, each dinner table featured a newspaper article written by Kenny or a write-up on different places where we have traveled. Our main objective was for all our guests to have a blast. Leroy Ellington and the E-Funk Band had everyone dancing, and our stash of props (e.g., sunglasses, inflatable guitars, tambourines) definitely made for a great party atmosphere.

Our favorite wedding moment was definitely when we were introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs! We both knew this was only the beginning of a life’s adventure together. It was a perfect day, and we were so fortunate to be able to celebrate with all of our friends and family.
