Knock, Knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who?

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?!

Most kids learn this as their first knock-knock joke, but there’s nothing funny about the fact that orange is making a splash on the color scene this year. The fashion elite – from Tommy Hilfiger to Nanette Lepore – are singing its praises as a hot trend in hues.

Pantone, the clairvoyant of color trends, have picked this year’s top-ranked hues, and orange made the list. “Each season, Pantone surveys the designers of New York Fashion Week and beyond to collect feedback on prominent collection colors, color inspiration and color philosophy,” said Ellen Pinto, director of PR for Pantone. “Tangerine Tango was a favorite among designers for spring.”

orangecolorYes, you read that right. It’s not just mere orange that you’ll see in clothing lines this year, but its haute couture cousin – Tangerine Tango (PANTONE 17-1463).

We hit Twitter to find out what others thought of the color, and Aleah Valley (@valleyandco), an event planner in Seattle and San Diego said “little bursts of orange blooms!” was her favorite way to incorporate the trendy color into weddings.

If you’re a little hesitant to go all-out orange, try pairing the color with black, white, gray or other neutral tones. Together, it will be an amazing pair … just like you and your groom!
