Beth & Sam - An Engagement

We are so excited to announce that our very own, BETH, just got engaged this past weekend to her love, Sam!  Not only did she get engaged, she got tricked and it was all caught on camera!  We asked Beth to share her exciting day with you and the images from the photographers behind the scene, The Renauds.

"A few weeks ago I received an email from a photographer friend of mine asking if my boyfriend, Sam, and I would be interested in doing a photoshoot with them to show engaged couples how pretty and fun winter shoots can be. I was expecting my boyfriend to be less than enthusiastic about it since he never enjoys having his picture taken, but I was happily surprised to hear he was all for it! (Little did I know he was actually behind the entire thing!)

Fast forward to Saturday and I was very suspicious. We arrived at The Renaud's house to head downtown for photos. Sam did everything he could to throw me off track, including telling me that he had planned the photoshoot as an early Christmas present/fun date for me. In fact, by the time we arrived at the first location I had pretty much given up on the thought of getting engaged that day.

We started off at a cute little Christmas tree farm, then moved into downtown Lexington for photos at the ice rink & coffee shop. We had so much fun, and we laughed a ton!

Our last stop was Gratz Park, where we took some more photos before the photographer set us up at the end of the park with specific instructions. He would take "wide shots" while we walked and talked through the park, down the sidewalk and around this little building at the edge of the grass. As we were walking and holding hands, Sam looked at me and said he had something to tell me. My heart skipped a beat as my suspicion returned and I had a feeling that this was it. "I've been praying about it and I've heard clearly that I get to ask you to marry me", he said, "but it can't be right now". As you can tell by my face (captured in the photo below), I was completely bummed and rightfully so. My boyfriend had just told me he wants to marry me but for whatever reason I believed I still had to wait.

As we rounded the corner of the building I thought the day was over. We had fun, it was a great date, and we would have some cool photos to remember it by. Then I see it: a little table with a small red box sitting on it and I suddenly realized exactly what was happening.

I don't remember much of what took place in the next few moments except that I was crying, Sam was down on one knee, and I was saying "yes" to marrying my best friend.

After the proposal we had dinner by candlelight at a fabulous French restaurant in downtown Lexington, just the two of us. Then we went back to the Renaud's house for "dessert" where I was surprised by a room full of our friends and family. We celebrated long into the night with people we loved and watched the slideshow of photos from our special day. I'm so thankful for all the people who helped to make it so memorable for both of us. From beginning to end it was truly the most perfect day and I can't believe I get to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing man!"
