Alyson & Lawrence - An Elegant Southern Wedding

From the Bride: Lawrence and I met in the fifth grade and he became my off and on "boyfriend" while we were in middle school.  He was always a little more into me than I was to him in those days.  While we stayed in touch through high school, we lost touch in college.  Fast-forward about six years and we ran into each other out at Brendan's on the night before Thanksgiving.  At the time, he had a girlfriend, but we started chatting and catching up, just as friends.  He had gotten my number that night and a few weeks later, we went out to eat.  It was then that he let me know that he had ended things with the girl he had been seeing before.  We've been together ever since. The vision for our wedding was southern elegance.  The colors were soft pink and ivory, with a touch of silver.  We incorporated pearls wherever we could.  We also had a bourbon barrel top as our guest book since Lawrence and I both love bourbon.  Our wedding planner, Tess Tooker, is also a graphic designer.  She helped us with all of the printed materials- save the dates, programs, table numbers and escort cards.  She had a knack for knowing just what I wanted. Our venues were both very special to us.  St. Francis in the Fields, where our ceremony took place, is the church Lawrence has attended his whole life and it's within a mile of where I grew up.  Lawrence's great grandfather was one of the founding members of our beautiful reception venue, Louisville Country Club.

My favorite wedding moment is one that most brides would dread happening on their Big Day.  It was when it started to rain at the beginning of the ceremony. Lawrence's mom, Mimi, passed away about two years before we were married.  At our rehearsal dinner, one of Lawrence's groomsmen gave a speech and mentioned the rain predicted for our wedding day.  He told us not to worry, that the rain would be Mimi crying tears of joy for us.  Sure enough, it began to rain right after my walk down the aisle.  In that moment, both Lawrence and I looked up through the windows, grateful that we could feel her presence.
