Bride Blogger Runner-Up: Camille & Austin
From the bride-to-be: Austin and I have known each other for several years -- we met and were friends throughout high school. He and I, both, attended UK (Go CATS!), but didn't really stay in touch. Occasionally, we'd run into each other on campus, exchange a "Hey! How are you?" and that was about it. At the end of my first year of teaching, I randomly received a Facebook message from him asking if I'd like to go to a wedding with him. Luckily, I had nothing going on that upcoming weekend, so I said yes. We met for dinner, a few nights before the wedding, to catch up; we were the first ones seated for dinner and the last ones to leave. It felt so right and natural. And, as they say, the rest is history -- we've been together ever since!
Austin and I have a little tradition of going to NYC during Christmas. We love to ice skate in Central Park, stroll down 5th Avenue and see the magical Christmas window displays, and, of course, see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. This year, we wanted to make it even more special, so we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. Our first morning there, he surprised me with room service -- breakfast in bed. I lifted the silver plate cover, and there sat a diamond ring and the words "Will you marry me?" written in chocolate on the plate. I looked over at Austin and he just had the biggest smile on his face, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! It was the perfect proposal for us, personal and very sweet.
We will be getting married on my parents' farm (a local wedding venue) -- Three Fields Farm -- in Versailles, KY. Austin and I love that we'll be getting married on my family's property. To us, that's very personal. So we'd like to carry that theme throughout the ceremony and reception and make a wedding full of personal details/touches! Bella Grace Studios will be photographing our big day!
