Krista & Russell - A Wedding in May
Nothing is quite as exciting as love at first site and when Russell met Krista, he just knew she was "The One." And just like Russell with Krista, we were infatuated with their wedding photos at first sight. This summer wedding couldn't have been any prettier!
From the Bride: Russell and I both attended Eastern Kentucky University. Throughout our time there, we had several mutual friends, saw each other around campus, and even worked in the same office, but we never officially met. It wasn’t until my last semester of grad school that we connected. He saw me out one night with a couple of friends, and knew that he had to ask me out on a date. He even told his friend that night that he was “going to marry that girl." Little did he know what God had planned for us!
He took me out for pizza (my favorite food!) on our first date, and we knew even then that we had something special. We began dating in May 2010, and in July, I moved to Birmingham, Alabama for work. Though the distance was awful, it really strengthened us as a couple, and eight months into our relationship, he proposed on Christmas Day.
We were married on May 25, 2013 at Talon Winery in Lexington. We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding in the spring and Talon had everything that we wanted to incorporate into our wedding- beautiful land, a rustic atmosphere, and tasty wine!
Our wedding was very much a labor of love, and we could not have done it without our amazing friends and families. They helped with every aspect, from making floral arrangements, favors, and wishing wands, to putting out hay bales the morning of the wedding, to making the cakes and being our DJ - it really was a group effort, and we are very blessed to have them in our lives!
Our favorite part of the day was at the very end of the evening when we asked all of our guests to head outside to help send us off. When everyone had left the room, we asked our DJ to play one last slow song just for the two of us. It was the first time that we were alone together as a married couple, and we finally had a chance to reflect on how perfect the day truly was. It was such a special moment that I know we will always cherish!
