Bridget & Jeffery - A Wedding in Richmond
From the Bride: I was living in Michigan, and Jeff was living in North Carolina when we first "met" in 2010 through an online dating website. I thought he was so handsome and that his profile was very witty and honest, so I initiated the first message. We soon found that we had much more in common than I thought! We both have a huge love for video games, oddly enough, and first heard each others voices while playing an online game. It sounds silly, but that eventually led us to our first Skype video date two weeks later. He even dressed up for it! Just two weeks after that, he flew to Michigan to meet me in person. Then, he moved to Michigan three months later to be with me.
I later encouraged him to go back to school, and soon he got a job as an engineer. His job required us to travel regularly and we were eventually sent to Louisville to live for seven months in 2012. We loved it so much that we wanted to start a life there. During that seven months, we visited the many vineyards in the area. Acres of Land Winery in Richmond was the third one we visited. While we were enjoying our wine tasting there, Jeff said, "When we get married, it will be at this vineyard." I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to say anything since he hadn't proposed yet! After finding a ring that I loved, Jeff asked both my dad and grandmother for permission to marry me. He secretly planned a dinner with my family, and even flew his mother and sister in to watch him propose to me on September 15, 2012.
We stuck to our plan of being married on the beautiful hilltop of Acres of Land Winery. I had the entire wedding planned within two weeks! The vineyard provided the catering and decorations. We really wanted it to be a simple and casual, but elegant wedding so we only invited 50 of our closest friends and family, and didn't have a wedding party. We wanted it to be as romantic and care-free as possible!
My favorite parts of the wedding were when we cut our beautiful cake, made by Cakes by Ellie, to the tune of "Cheek to Cheek" by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. When we walked into the venue for the first time, we were pumping our fists to "Final Countdown" by Europe. That was definitely a funny memory.
The most magical moment for us was when he watched me walk down the aisle with my dad to "Northern Wind" by City and Colour. I looked straight at him the entire time, smiling my head off, while he was teary. I'll never forget it. It was such a perfect day!
