Nicole & Colby: Downtown Lexington Wedding
From the soft, blush hues, to the mercury glass at the reception, this wedding is a must see! Nicole & Colby are sharing their wedding photos (by Malicote Photography) with us today. Scroll down to take in all the loveliness & to read the bride's story of how she met her groom!
From the bride: Colby & I first met in 2010 through mutual friends in college. We were constantly told by friends how cute we looked together & that there was an obvious spark between us, but we continued to just be acquaintances. One night in December 2011, Colby & I ran into each other at a Jake Owen concert in Lexington. That night the spark was evident between the hours of laughter & easy conversation. We could not deny it anymore!
For our wedding day, I wanted to keep the classic, traditional elements I was raised with while blending the sweet, southern, romanticism of the South. I loved the idea of playing with soft romantic blush colors while using a traditional gray. Most importantly I wanted a summer wedding in order for all of our friends & family to be there. I knew we needed a location that would provide convenience for our out-of-town guests, but could still combine all the elements we wanted.
As an out-of-town bride myself, I was worried about planning a wedding with my family being 6.5 hours away. Finding a photographer that we clicked with & a florist/event designer that paralleled our vision was key. We were so fortunate to find photographers that are not only talented but also such down to earth people.
For our wedding design, Crist Creona Designs brought romanticism & elegant southern taste. Our ceremony took place at a traditional Catholic church with beautiful stained glass windows & music featured by a string ensemble to capture an intimate, yet classical feel. Our reception took place in the grand ballroom of the Hilton. It was an absolute dream between the beautiful candelabra centerpieces, mercury vases, and hand-draped backdrop.
My favorite wedding day moment was waiting to walk down the aisle. The doors opened & Colby & I locked eyes. It was almost as if no one else was even there except him & I. At that moment, I was filled with complete happiness.
Our wedding day was so special because there were elements of family tradition involved. I was able to surprise my mom by sewing a piece of her wedding lace into my gown. That date also happened to be the 100th wedding anniversary of my great grandparents, which we can't help but think is good luck! It was truly a day we will never forget. It was everything we could have hoped for & more!
