Laura & Brock's Horse Park Wedding
From the bride: Brock and I have a lot of mutual friends, and while he says we met a few years before when I was out with some of those friends, I don't remember that. This is how I remember it. When one of my friends opened a gym in Lexington I told him I'd come check it out. I thought my friend would be teaching the kickboxing class, but when I walked in, there stood Brock! He says when he saw me walk in his first thought was "Oh s*** I need to step it up today" I remember my best friend and I were holding a plank in the middle of class when she whispered to me, "I feel like he is potential for you, Laura". While I was thinking the same thing I played it cool and just said "Yeah, maybe".
Fast forward 2 years and Brock took me to Jean Farris Winery where he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! He planned the engagement for months! He had a photographer hiding in the grape vines to capture it all and then told me the surprise wasn't over! He blindfolded me and took me to Jefferson Davis Inn in Lexington where he rented the top floor and had about fifty of our closest friends and family there to celebrate with us! Some of them coming from 8 hours away!
Nine months later, we tied the knot at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park. It was the rainiest day in May, but when I walked down the aisle and saw Brock at the other end, everything else disappeared. Our vision for the wedding was to have a fun, timeless, Kentucky wedding. We had mini hot browns, homemade Kentucky bourbon ball cupcakes, guests took home the mother-of-the-groom's famous homemade trail mix, the mothers of the bride and groom got rose gold horseshoe necklaces, groomsman received University of Kentucky beer mugs, and bridesmaids received Kentucky state necklaces. Also, all the women in my family got together one weekend and made a quilt for Brock and I. They surprised me by hanging it up at our wedding!
My favorite part of the day was when my maid of honor gave me the gift Brock made for me...a video with pictures of us growing up, dating, and then engaged, put to music. Everyone was in tears! A close second was when we were pronounced husband and wife! His favorite part was when he saw me walking down the aisle, it was the first time we had seen each other all day! The entire wedding was PERFECT!
