There is something about the fact that theses two were just meant to be together that simply tugs at our heart strings. We also think their Carrick House wedding, photographed by Five by Five Photography, is pretty lovely as well!

From the bride: Some would say that David and I are high school sweethearts, but with a twist. We first met when I moved to Richmond, Ky in elementary school. We grew up as friends, but never had any romantic connection. Growing up as best friends, it was hard to part after we graduated high school. I went off to college at the University of Kentucky while David attended Western Kentucky University. Although we stayed in touch throughout college it was difficult to remain close, but “destiny” (or was we call it in the Bluegrass State, Kentucky Basketball) brought us back together during the 2012 National Championship. It was amazing to see that after years apart we started off exactly where we left off. Not long after, we decided to give dating a try.

Some year and a half after we started dating, David attended a basketball game with my dad. Little did I know he had bought a ring and was asking for my father's blessing. After 14 years of being friends, David knew me pretty well. As an avid picture-taker his number one priority was to capture our proposal on camera. During our annual family holiday photoshoot, David dropped to one knee in front of our family and friends and asked me to be his wife.

On our wedding eve David’s mom had a surprise for us. When we were in high school we had to write a “memory book”. One of the entries was titled “Where will you be in 10 years?”. David’s mom began to read David’s entry aloud for our closest friends and family and his first sentence was all we needed to hear. David wrote “In 10 years I will be a doctor, pharmacist, or lawyer and I will be married (to Brittany Porter)” I thought this was the sweetest gift my future husband could have given me. Who would have thought that 10 years ago he had these feelings about me and they would become true!

As our wedding day approached I began to become nervous. I wanted everything to be perfect…and of course I checked the weather channel constantly. I was slightly disappointed when it started to rain the morning of our wedding, but the moment I saw David I was at ease. Realizing I finally got to marry by best friend made this the best day of our lives. I know we were slightly nervous about our first dance together because David and I are not huge fans of attention. Prior to our wedding we started to practice our dance at home, and we couldn't do it without laughing. We were slightly overwhelmed, but having each other helped calm us down (it still didn't stop our laughing though). Our wedding was such a blur, but we wouldn't change a single thing. We got to spend the happiest day of our life with our closest family and friends. It is a day we will never forget and we are so thankful for that.
