Carrie & Nick's Sweet Rustic Wedding
This adorable barn wedding is as sweet as they come! Carrie & Nick endured a long-distance relationship before being wed near Carrie's "Old Kentucky Home" in a classic, rustic affair. Scroll down to take a peek into their big day & read about their story from both the bride & groom...
Nick: "While living in Nashville, TN I met a sweet girl from Illinois who happened to also have a sweet (single) brother. After talking up both sides, this friend planned a weekend trip back home for her birthday and to celebrate her brother passing the Illinois Bar Exam. A weekend of 4-wheelers, campfires, laughing, and talking non-stop was all we needed to set a spark on one of the greatest love stories ever told. Our long-distance relationship for the next 1 year and 9 months included traveling 800 miles almost every weekend and Skype dates each night in between. By July 19, 2014, we were more than ready to no longer share those painful Sunday goodbyes!"
Carrie: "The vision for the "big day" was fairly simple; classic, country, vintage, romantic elegance -- with all of Kentucky's beauty alongside. We decided on Kentucky in order to “meet in the middle” and being that I was born and raised in the Bluegrass, it was part of my dream wedding to be married in my Old Kentucky Home. After looking at just one venue, we knew Burdoc Farms was more perfect for us than we could imagine. Through Nick’s encouragement and patience, I was able to utilize one of my greatest passions in life and create a majority of the decor, including details of painted windows & signs, a handmade quilt for guests to sign, and the cathedral veil I wore down the aisle. We both wanted this day to be special for not only us, but for all of the amazing people who would be there celebrating our marriage!
The best part of the day was a close tie between these two: #1 Hearing this part of Nick's vows, "letting our kids stay up late to cheer with the Big Blue Nation" (Go CATS!) and #2 After rehearsing the “big lift” from Dirty Dancing we ended up forgoing this at our Reception. It wasn’t until we had made our exit and were walking down the driveway in the dark to our cabin when we heard the song come on in the Reception barn. We made the “big lift” in the field – all alone, under the stars!"
Nick: "The lantern sendoff was magical – the perfect ending of our Wedding Day and beginning of our marriage!"
