From the bride: Matt & I actually met through my little brother! Matt had coached him in football when he started high school, but I had never seen him prior to the athletic banquet at the end of the season. A mutual friend & coach, Chris Hubbard & his wife Crystal, played matchmaker, & before we knew it we had plans to eat at a Japanese place in town together. One date turned into two, then three, and four short months later we were engaged. We never looked back!
The vision for our wedding was "Garden Chic". I knew I wanted to get married on Matt's family farm, but I wanted to do something a little different than the typical rustic, barn wedding. My dad built a cross from concrete & assembled an alter in the field for the ceremony along with six handmade columns to line the aisle with. Not only that, but he also worked on building three farm tables all winter long for the bridal party to sit at during the reception.
I loved flowers that appeared full & soft (like peonies & hydrangeas), & I wanted as many as we could squeeze into that old tobacco barn. Between the abundance of flowers & handmade touches, the wedding became more personal & unique. Our colors were pale blue, navy, & blush; which gave the décor a preppy edge.
My favorite wedding moment was undoubtedly our First Look. I walked across the pier to the edge of the pond & saw Matt for the first time that day. We had a few moments to talk & enjoy each other before the wedding was in full swing. I highly recommend all couples to have that special time on their big day. We treasure those pictures from that moment, & I wouldn't change it for anything!
