Elyse and Stephen’s Livery Wedding

Rustic, Romantic Livery Wedding

From the Bride: We both grew up in Lexington but didn’t cross paths until we were both attending Eastern Kentucky University. We had moments of our past that should have brought us together sooner, but timing is everything and timing is what we needed.

My main vision for our wedding was a big celebration with all the people I loved the most in one place, I wanted a big party! The other thoughts that came to mind was a romantic and rustic feel with a modern twist, the goal was to have guests enter the venue and be stunned by the decor. The Livery was just perfect and our theme had to have slight glitz and glam (since we were married on New Years Eve) while maintaining simplicity and romanticism. The colors were simple, navy and gold. My wedding used unique and vintage elements with DIY projects. I was a bride on a budget, and was determined to not go over budget and make this wedding all that I wanted and more.

The wedding day was filled with magical moments. The first moment being Hagan and I ’s choreographed first dance, that I mostly made up for us to do, we figured out the routine two days before the wedding, but somehow managed to kill it. I do not know if it was my dance background or Hagan’s athletic ability, but we pulled it off and people were so impressed. Another favorite moment was my dad and I’s first dance, the best word to describe it, hilarious! When my dad and I practiced this routine beforehand I almost could not breathe because I laughed so hard the whole time we were practicing, but it was a crowd pleaser, for sure. Another moment coming to mind was the moment I saw my niece break it down on the dance floor all night long and she is only nine years old. Proud moment seeing my niece dance because of my dance background. I mean my favorite moment of my wedding, I could go on for days, but the truth is hearing from everyone how they had an amazing time, just solidified that we created the celebration that we had longed for.

My advice for future brides planning a wedding: Make sure everything is what you want, it's your day, no one else’s, so do the wedding of your dreams whatever that may be. Remember why you are getting married in the first place, do not allow yourself to stress out, others cloud your mind, or turn into the bridezilla. You are marrying the man of your dreams - weddings are beautiful, but they come and go in a flash, what you create afterward is more important. Do your research, read your reviews, think everything through before going with your first option, make sure that all decisions made are ones that you would not change. Love each moment up to the wedding day because once it is over it is over, do not wish that time away because your ready for the stress and anxiety to be done, believe me, you will miss it afterward.
