Shelby and Rick's Apiary Wedding

From the bride: Rick and I met 7 years ago in college. We both are from Pennsylvania, and moved to Kentucky about 2 years ago. After planting our roots here, we became engaged and knew that this was the perfect place to have our wedding! Bringing all of our friends and family from out of town to see the place we now call home.

Rick was able to design and print all the invitations, seating chart, menus and place settings. We wanted to tie in bourbon, so wrote letters for each other that we placed in a wooden box with a bottle of bourbon during the ceremony (as our unity ritual). We also used the exact barrel of the bourbon from our ceremony as our guestbook. Little bottles of Old Forrester were placed at each seat with the guest’s name and for them to take home. Two of our dogs were a part of the ceremony, Lucky in a matching groomsmen Tux and Bailey with flowers around her collar. Each bridesmaid wore a different style of a slate blue and carried bouquets made of beautiful hydrangeas, ivory roses, berry dahlia, and succulents.

Our favorite moment was having a first look. It was just the two of us, and with how fast and busy the day goes by, it was meaningful to share some time to ourselves. After our first look, we read each other letters that we wrote, filling our hearts with even more love. Being able to have all of our friends and family come visit Kentucky and celebrate with us, made for a perfect day!
