Lindsey + Curtis's Intimate Wedding

From the Bride: Our wedding was completely about us -- two people that just wanted to be married. Collectively, over the years we have been in 18+ weddings -- I myself have been a maid-of-honor 3 times, having been a part of and witnessed the amount of stress most weddings cause my husband and I were both uninterested in planning or participating in an elaborate wedding. Also, time played a factor in our wedding decisions as we planned to get married prior to the birth of our baby girl. With that being said, we weighed all of our wedding options; whether to elope, have a small destination wedding, or just go to the courthouse but none of those options felt right to us. It wasn't until I was back home in Hyden for my grandmother's funeral that I remembered a very small chapel (I had seen only in pictures) located on "hospital hill”. A week later I called my mother to inquire more information about the quaint chapel recognized as the Mary Breckinridge St. Christopher's Chapel and two weeks later, "secretly" in front of only our immediate family, we became husband and wife.

If it’s true that “rain on your wedding day is good luck” then we are blessed with a lifetime of good fortune because it rained the entire day. However, I felt like it just made our wedding all the more magical. When we walked into the chapel it was like a scene out of a fairy tale — exactly what I had always imagined as a little girl. My bridal team turned my vision into reality using only inspiration Pinterest pictures I sent via text. The chapel itself is a historic landmark on the Frontier Nursing service complex. It boasts a beautiful 15th century stained glass window, gorgeous stone, breathtaking woodwork, and enchanting details. No one there could believe both my gown and veil were bought from Amazon and it was seeming hard to tell that I was just shy of 8 months pregnant. Everything was romantic, elegant, and timeless. We loved the simplicity of our day — and that in the end, we didn't follow the "norm" but rather did something that was completely our own.

Favorite Moments: We happened to share the same favorite moment; the moment we locked eyes with each other at the altar. Everything else that was happening around us was a blur — It felt like we were the only ones in the room; exactly how we wanted it to feel. However, my husband also enjoyed that during the ceremony our officiant, whom happens to be my God Father, quoted one of his favorite "Wedding Crashers" lines.

Side note: Our precious baby girl decided to arrive 3 weeks early less than a month after our wedding on Valentine's Day.
