Madison + Alex's Wedding on the Family Farm
From the Bride: My husband and I decided to have our wedding at the house and family barn that I grew up at for most of my life. It was special to be able to have such an important moment in our lives in a location that we were both so familiar with. Also, it's just hard to beat getting married in a location where you have so much open space and photographic moments that are enhanced by the beauty of nature. I loved walking down the aisle and looking at my husband and all of our closest friends standing under a beautiful tree that had been growing on my family's property for decades. Also, looking out and seeing all of the friends and family that had came to celebrate with us was extra special. We were able to do a first look and pictures with the wedding party in a field by my family's house that just captured the overall mood and motif that we wanted for our special day.
We also were able to get people from all across our hometown to help with our wedding day. Our food and music were done by people who our parents had known for years. After the ceremony, we could smell the food that was being served and we couldn't wait to sit and eat. Lucky for us, the food was as good as it smelled if not better. The minister who conducted the ceremony was also a personal friend and was able to create a more personalized ceremony for us that had a more intimate touch. We loved our custom 3 tiered white vanilla and buttercream icing wedding cake that was specially made for us by one of my mom’s closest friends. It was beautiful and tasted even better than it looked. My husband and I both went back for a second piece. Having people from our community be able to contribute to our special day was something that meant a lot to both me and my husband.
One of the most special moments was the first kiss after we said I do. It was such so special and it cemented all the love and excitement that we both felt in the moment.
Our first dance was to the song Speechless by Dan + Shay. In that moment, it felt like me and my husband were the only ones there. The song and the moment was so intimate and was one of the few moments during the wedding that we were able to selfishly share with just each other.
Finally, my husband and I both went to college in a different part of the state and have family in multiple states across the U.S. so we don't always get to see all of our friends and family often, but most of them were able to make the trip to come and spend our special day with us. It was very special knowing that people cared enough about the start of a new chapter in our lives enough to make the long trip to celebrate with us.
