Hunter + Brendan's Owensboro Wedding

From the Bride: We love winter and love a good excuse to celebrate! So New Year’s Eve was a no brainer for us! It just so happened it fell on a Saturday and we knew instantly that was our date!

My husband is a huge Yeezy fanatic and we gifted each other with a pair of “his and her” (black and white) Yeezy’s, which made our gifts to each other unique to us.

Being from Kentucky and lovers of bourbon, we came across a tradition we couldn’t pass up on! Burying the bourbon! The tradition states that if you bury a bottle of Kentucky Bourbon exactly one month before your wedding date, it won't rain on your special day and you'll have good fortune as a married couple. We chose a bottle of Wathen’s bourbon due to my husband’s family being master distillers of the brand. As wedding day approached, and the chances of rain were nearly 80%, we found that the tradition really did bring good luck. Not one drop of rain on our wedding day! Although, the overcast weather made for some gorgeous photos!

We danced our first dance to “Work Song” by Hozier We obviously had to include our fur babies in our special day! We each had a signature drink dedicated to them. The “Tipsy Tippy,” named after our Great Dane, was an Old Fashioned. “The Primrose,” named after our Aussiedoodle, was an espresso martini.

Bride’s Advice: Make sure you hire a reliable day-of-coordinator!!! I did not have a wedding planner and planned everything myself but made sure I had someone day of to help things run smoothly. Katy Hart was an absolute blessing and we could not have done it without her. She took care of everything and made sure my family and I were able to enjoy the special day! Not once did I receive a text from any vendor or guest because she had everything handled!
