Jenny + Conner's Louisville Wedding

From the Bride: Conner and I's love story all started at The University of Kentucky so it was important to have little bits of UK sprinkled into our day. We met at a tailgate on the very first game of the season my freshmen year and Conner's sophomore year. We were friends for 3 years before we ever had our first date. I had custom sneakers made with our dogs faces painted on the side wearing UK jerseys. Comfort and nostalgic was so important to me and this was a perfect way to have both.

We surprised all our guests with an appearance by the University of Kentucky Wildcat mascot at our reception. He stayed and took pictures and danced the night away with us on the dance floor. Our guests loved it and had a blast. This was such a unique way to keep the dance floor lively and full!

I moved here from Johnson City, TN to attend UK in 2014. Our band was The Music City Sound out of Nashville. It was a fun way to bring a piece of home to our wedding. They were. absolutely fantastic and we still get compliments to this day how incredible they were!

Not necessarily a detail but Conner lived in Louisville KY and I grew up in Johnson City, TN. Shortly after we started dating we discovered we had shared the same teacher! She had taught me in 1st grade and taught Conner in 6th grade. Our former teacher Pam was able to attend our wedding and got to see all of her former students from Tennessee and Kentucky. It was incredibly special!

Our cake was a 3 tier Lemon Cake along with a sheet cake with The Grinch. Conner’s family are the BIGGEST Christmas fanatics you will ever meet. We often joke spending the holiday with his family was the ultimate test so this was a nod to The Mackowiak family Christmas traditions. We danced our first dance to L.O.V.E by Frank Sinatra. Our signature drinks were inspired by our sweet boxer labs-Sgt. Peppers Proper Old Fashioned: Old Forester, Maple Syrup, Bitters, and Orange Peel and Roo's Frisky Whiskey: Old Forester, Honey, Orange Juice, Maple Syrup, and Bitters.

It was so important that the details incorporated into our day brought back those feelings and memories about where and how our love story started surrounded by our family and friends.

Bride’s Advice: This is the one chance you and your person get to make this day all about you and the love you have for each other. Don't focus too much on the trends or what you think will make other people happy. Do the things for you and no one else!
