Morgan and Ethan's Millersburg Wedding

From the Bride: From the beginning, we knew we wanted an intimate wedding with a warm atmosphere. We wanted our wedding to be as stress-free as possible because it's one of the only times in life that we would be surrounded by our favorite people from all walks of life! I met Ethan when he moved to Lexington to work as an equine veterinarian. Although I am the Kentucky native, Ethan taught me about horses and bourbon so of course we we had to incorporate bourbon throughout. We had etched bourbon bottles for gifts and a groom’s choice bourbon tasting set up so our guests could taste some of Ethan's favorite bourbons.

When picking out wedding venues, we wanted a venue that could accommodate our bridal party on-site so that we have a wedding weekend instead of just a wedding day. Mustard Seed Hill was able to do just that! With eight on-site rooms and three AirBNB’s associated with Mustard Seed, our guest started arriving on Wednesday allowing for a fun week of events including a day at Keeneland and a tour of the horse farm where we were engaged.

Our wedding day truly felt like we were just hanging out with all of our friends and family and I just so happened to be wearing a white dress. I had a trial run of a certain hairstyle prior to my wedding day but decided to make a change the day of my wedding. While I was getting my hair done, I finally decided to look through makeup inspiration pictures to show my makeup artist. Our wedding coordinator had to suggest that we turn down the song "Thunderstruck" because time had gotten away from us and we didn't realize guests were arriving yet. We danced our first dance to “Sweet Symphony” by Joy Oladokun and Chris Stapleton. However, during cocktail hour we climbed through a window and spent time dancing on the roof of our venue to “Latch” (acoustic verison) by Sam Smith. We were torn between these two songs for our first dance song so we were able to incorporate both into our special day. With all of that being said, weddings should be fun and not a day where you are constantly worrying about what may go wrong!

Bride’s Advice: Wedding planning does not have to be stressful! I did not use a wedding planner and was trying to plan my wedding in the middle of moving to another state while beginning a new job. Just remember, your wedding is a celebration of love that is meant to be enjoyed.
