Sarah + Chris's Bowling Green Wedding

From the Bride: Chris and I both share a love of the outdoors and knew we wanted our ceremony and reception outside. The Cliff Todd Center was the perfect spot for both! The ceremony was held in the formal garden, and my dear friend who also happens to be the wedding planner, married us. It was a traditional service from the Book of Common Prayer. Chris is Episcopalian and requested this for the ceremony. It was his only request and one we were happy to honor! Walking down the steps escorted by my children and seeing Chris standing under the sunshine was a most memorable sight! My kids gave me away, so standing with them and then taking Chris's hand was really special. We had a classical guitarist play "In Spite of Ourselves" by John Prine as our wedding recessional and it was great!

We wanted our reception to be intimate and feel cozy for us and to our guests. We kept the guest list small and decided our meal would be the focal point. So our wedding planner came up with a design that kept everyone together -- a long, single table that seated everyone under a tent. The feel was more like a family celebration, very communal and personal. It allowed us to visit with everyone and feel like we could enjoy time with each guest and each other. Conversation flowed so well and the food was amazing! Also all the laughter filled the tent, there was so much joy in that sound. Cambridge Market served everything family style and each dish was excellent. Shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, roasted brussels sprouts and smoked paprika potatoes were a nod to both our southern upbringing and love of traveling in the low country.

Our photographers, Shelley + Portugal were amazing! I had worked with them in the past and know how special they are. Their ability to catch each moment in an artful, unintrusive way is magical. They create these golden photos that capture everything you could ask for. Overall, it was just the perfect day for us. Angela made everything gorgeous and so special. I never worried about anything for one moment!
