Somer + Justin's Owensboro Wedding

From the Bride: One of our favorite things about our wedding is something that we still get to carry with us (literally) every single day. Both myself and my husband both used the wedding bands of both of our grandfathers as our own wedding bands. Two timeless, gold bands that are a bit worn with scratches from two beloved people who wore them before us for decades in their own marriages and are no longer with us-- those bands mean more than anything we could've bought ourselves.

The main goals of our reception were to 1) make our celebration a reflection of us + who we are despite more "traditional" options and 2) to make sure it was an absolute blast.. and I think we delivered! Our guests enjoyed a customizable pasta bar where they had the choice of type of pasta, sauce, protein, etc. (the Bride's favorite food is pasta) and the Groom was surprised with his own cake made with rainbow chip icing - his childhood favorite. Our wedding cake was made by the Bride's aunt, who has made dozens of wedding cakes in our family for decades. Personalized koozies with the wedding hashtag #TheDreamWeavers were given out in coordinating colors with a custom illustration of the couple's dog, Poppy, on the side.

In lieu of a traditional guestbook, we rented a vintage rotary phone from After The Tone so that our loved ones could leave us voicemails throughout the night. These voicemails will be put onto a vinyl record and a USB drive for us to listen to for years to come. Our band, Entice, brought the whole house down. We danced our first dance to “Fooled Around And Fell In Love” by Elvin Bishop (from the movie The Family Stone, one of the Bride & Groom's favorites) Our dance floor was never not full of people having a blast... which is all we wanted. It was also important to us that we highlighted all of the unique things that Owensboro has to offer. The Bride designed an entire guide of all of the things to do and places to eat in hopes that we gave all of our favorite places business.

Bride’s Advice: Whenever you get stressed, please remember: This will be the best day of your life - no centerpiece, song, menu selection, dessert, or anything will matter more to you than the person you just married and all of your loved ones that are there to celebrate. It's hard to see until it's over, but do not sweat the small stuff!
