Ally + Joe's Louisville Wedding

From the Bride: I still look back on our wedding day and get chills; the entirety of the day was a complete fairytale. From the party bus that picked us up (the girls) at 7:30 in the morning, to the row of 20ft sparklers that sent us off at the end of the night; Everything was just absolutely perfect. Your wedding day is the longest, most special day of your life. And while it does go by very quickly, there are many moments that just stick to your heart, and memories that will last a lifetime. One of those was seeing my husband for the first time… He and I did not do a first look. We wanted that special moment when I walked down the aisle to see each other for the first time. The tears in his eyes was a moment that I cannot ever put in to words. Looking at him, knowing that I was the lucky girl that would spend life with him… it’s unexplainable. Holding his hands and looking in his eyes while listening to my godfather (who was ordained just for our wedding!) guide us through our vows; it was like no one else was there except us. Of course, I ugly cried for most of our vows! Sharing that moment with my husband will forever be my favorite memory.

One thing that I wanted to be sure of was that my bridesmaids felt loved & appreciated. They had done so much for me, and made me feel so loved, that I didn’t know how I would ever thank them. The girls that stood by my side that day are the ones that I could not do life without. So right before I did a first look with them, while their backs were turned, I read them a letter. One that I had written from the bottom of my heart, letting them know how I felt about each and every one of them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, and when they turned around to see me we all just started sobbing. It was one the most incredible moments, sharing all of me on my wedding day with the sisters I got to chose.

All of the details from that day were definitely an expression of me and my mom. I had the 2 most incredible wedding planners, and my mom basically was my third. She made all of the hard decisions that I couldn’t, and she even threw in some surprises. A polo bar at cocktail hour with beautiful market lights, a cigar roller for the reception, and we even had a bourbon tasting! Nothing says Kentucky like a bourbon tasting. For the polo bar, our calligrapher designed a beautiful sign of our signature drinks, We had 3 signature drinks! “His” was a smoked old fashioned, that they smoked right there for you at the bar! “Hers” was a replica of my favorite drink from one of my favorite spots in Louisville, it was a fall themed margarita with apple & pear juice, rimmed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cinnadust. And our third “The Bentley” was named after our golden doodle (wh0 his debut walking down the aisle with my junior bridesmaid), made by a Tito’s mixologist that my uncle knows! The cigar roller was a crowd favorite! He had pre-rolled cigars for everyone to enjoy, and he also would hand roll them right in front of our guests for them to take home for later! Everything about that day was perfect, and I wish I could do it all over again.

Bride’s Advice: One thing I would say is prioritize the marriage, not the wedding. Wedding planning is so fun, but so stressful. And those tiny details that make your head want to explode won’t even be a thought on your big day. What really matters, is the life that follows after. Don’t ever lose sight of that, and don’t sweat the small stuff!
