Landrie + Jackson's Lexington Wedding
One of the most meaningful aspects of the wedding was that my dad not only walked me down the aisle, but also officiated the ceremony. I don’t see my dad cry very often, so witnessing that moment was incredibly emotional and deeply special. Having him lead the ceremony made it profoundly personal.
Just days before the wedding, my grandfather underwent unexpected open-heart surgery and was unable to attend. With the help of my mom and one of my close friends, I surprised him in the hospital so he could see me in my wedding dress. It remains one of the most meaningful moments I’ve ever shared with him.
We were also honored to have Kate—my mentor and friend since middle school—as our photographer. Having someone who knows me so well behind the camera made me feel supported throughout the day, and she captured the beauty and joy of the celebration in the most authentic way.
Including worship and communion in the ceremony was a deeply intentional choice, serving as a testament to our commitment to keeping Jesus at the center of our marriage and our lives.
We chose a white chocolate raspberry cake, created by a dear friend, Celia, whom I’ve known since high school, adding another personal touch to the day. For our first dance, they swayed to “Starting Over” by Chris Stapleton.
Through all the planning and inevitable stress, the most important reminder was simple: at the end of the day, it’s about marrying your best friend before God—and that’s what truly matters.
