Megan + Alex's Lexington Wedding

Megan and Alex were married at Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Kentucky—a setting that felt meaningful from the very beginning. The couple first met at the Kentucky Oaks, making a venue so deeply rooted in Kentucky’s horse-country heritage feel like a full-circle moment. Beneath wide blue skies and golden autumn light, they exchanged vows on a manicured lawn as a soft breeze drifted through the ceremony. Though their guest list was expansive, the couple focused on creating an atmosphere that felt intimate and personal, grounded in quiet moments shared with the people who shaped them.

From the start, Megan and Alex wanted their wedding to reflect not only their love story, but also their history and family ties. Heirlooms were woven throughout the day: Alex wore his grandfather’s cufflinks, the couple toasted with his grandparents’ champagne glasses, and Megan’s parents’ wedding cake knife was used during the reception. His grandmother’s jewelry box and trays were styled into flat lays, while dried hydrangeas—grown and preserved by Megan’s mother-in-law—were incorporated into arrangements, adding softness and sentiment throughout the celebration.

A timeless black-and-white palette anchored the design, elevated by a custom toile pattern that brought personality and charm. Megan’s aunt lovingly created the toile tablecloth for the head table, along with coordinating runners and linens for the cake table, memorial table, and cocktail hour bars. Megan designed all of the invitations, crest, and paper goods herself and handwrote each guest’s place card, tying them with ribbon to match the toile motif. Their signature cocktail, The Bourbon Berrill, offered a playful nod to their new shared last name—and, like every detail of the day, reflected a deep love for Kentucky, family, and tradition.
From the very beginning, Megan and Alex knew they wanted the Whole Foods Berry Chantilly cake, a favorite they both adored. Rather than choosing a traditional bakery, they leaned into what felt most personal. Megan’s cousin stacked and decorated the cakes, adding an extra layer of meaning. Guests were also treated to lemon bars and a rich chocolate buckeye cake. Now, the couple looks forward to celebrating future anniversaries with a Berry Chantilly cake—a sweet tradition that brings them right back to their wedding day.
The couple shared their first dance to Haley Reinhart’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a song that felt simple, timeless, and deeply meaningful to them.
Looking back, Megan encourages couples to take the time to truly interview their vendors. Beyond talent and experience, she believes it’s essential that personalities align and that vendors genuinely understand the couple’s vision. When there’s shared energy and trust, everything flows more smoothly—and it shows in every detail of the day.
