Madison + Michael's Richmond Wedding

From the Bride: We wanted our wedding to perfectly describe us as a couple - adventurous, fun, and filled with love. We did so many small things throughout the day to do just that.

Michael leads Operations at Clayton and Crume, a leather company in Louisville, Kentucky, and we wanted to show his passion for leather. The bridal party received gifts that included utility bags and flasks. Michael made the ring holder himself that held the wedding rings for the day. Both dad's received ties that had special messages on the inside. I had a handkerchief passed down from my grandmother on the day as well. We are also obsessed with our dog, Woodford. He was able to join us for pictures dressed in a suit himself and a small figurine of him was found on the wedding cake. We also had a pre-wedding toast to thank those that meant the most to us and were standing by our side. These small details meant the world to us.

For the reception, we wanted to have an epic time! With us both being adventurous, we decided a helicopter entrance was a must! We were able to go on a joy-ride before we landed at the venue. We flew over the church that we had just gotten married at and just enjoy the beauty of Richmond, Kentucky. Not only that, it was so cool to be in a helicopter with the natural adrenaline rush of being married. We surprised our guests with our grand entrance, followed by a toast to everyone that joined us for the day. We proceeded to have a dance floor filled with our family and friends for hours with a live band that turned into a DJ. Our Mixologist, Jason Starks, has won lots of cocktail awards in Louisville. We spent lots of hours with him perfecting our signature cocktails that you could taste our individual personalities in, not to mention he lit oranges on fire for the drinks, giving a fun addition to the guests! His - Black Cherry Old Fashion and Hers - Blood Orange Aperol Spritz - Woodford's (our dog) - Woodford on the Rocks. We are also huge coffee-lovers, so we had an espresso bar with Heine Brothers coffee throughout the night. We danced our first dance to “Everything” by Michael Buble. For late night snacks, we had our favorite foods - mini corn dogs and french fries.

Lastly, the special thing about having our reception at SMK Venue is that it is located on my family's farm. I grew up riding horses in the indoor arena, which we later turned into the event venue. My friends and I would play in the dirt that is now the concrete where we danced all night at our wedding. Bringing back so many memories.

Bride’s Advice: Find the few things you are passionate about doing at your wedding and then do not stress about the other things. It will all come together in the end and be the most perfect day.
