Becky + Will's Red River Gorge Wedding

From the bride: We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of who we are and what brought us together. We met rock climbing and that that has been a big part of our relationship. We would take many weekend trips to the Red River Gorge to climb, and still do. We knew from the beginning that the Gorge was where we wanted to have our wedding. The venue overlooked a climbing area that we often went to. The ceremony was very special to us. We decided instead of having the traditional wedding party, to have our immediate families stand up there with us. Friends can go in and out of your life but your family is always there and we wanted them up there with us. The groom’s father was the one who performed the ceremony. Instead of having a unity candle or something to that nature we hung up prayer flags, as they have a lot of symbolism in the climbing world. There were so many hands involved in helping our wedding come together. The decorations were made by me and the groom’s grandmother. The flowers were done by a friend of mine with a flower farm. We had a grazing table that included so many pickled vegetables that me and my mother spent days pickling. For the bar, we had beer from our favorite local brewery and had a selection of bourbons with two signature bourbon cocktails that we often make at home. The band "Cosmic Shift" are close friends of ours and played all our favorite jams while friends and family gathered around the bonfire and made smores or played frisbee or cornhole. We wanted this wedding to feel like you were hanging out in someone’s backyard. Doing so much of the wedding execution yourself can be overwhelming at times but we wouldn't have changed a thing. I remember the feeling of release and joy when we walked down the aisle after saying our vows. The hard part was over and we just can to have fun and relax. My favorite moment was probably when we were able to sneak off away from everyone and see the sunset and take pictures and then getting to hang out with friends and family around the campfire. The wedding came together in the most lovely and meaningful way, a beautiful picture of both of us and the things and people that hold so much meaning to our lives.
