Kelsey + Kevin's Cadiz Wedding
From the bride: The venue for our ceremony is what meant the most to both of us. We chose to get married at my parents home, located in western Kentucky on my family farm that over looks the entire grounds. The property contains rolling hills, small trickling creeks, acres of hay fields, old tobacco barns, and a small horse stable. Any other venue was out of the question. We met for the very first time at this home 11 years ago because our families were close friends. Not only was this property where we first met, but also where we plan to build our very own family home in the near future. This love filled property contains our past, present, and future all wrapped into one.
Our wedding ceremony contained fairytale elements in very simplistic ways. My husband and I share our favorite season, fall, which made it easy to choose a gorgeous autumn day to exchange vows. The pops of bright yellow and orange with bursts of dark red in the trees lining the property created a back drop like no other. We chose to have a very small bridal party of just one maid of honor and one best man. Our parents and grandparents participated in the walk down the isle, as well as of course the proud father escorting the bride. After a short 15 minute ceremony surrounded by friends, family, and our son we shared an intimate moment watching the sun set behind the trees in our favorite spot on the property, in the far back corner, on top of the biggest hill.
My husband's favorite wedding day moment was during the ceremony after we exchanged vows, and we turned to look at the audience that contained family friends. In his words, "I looked at you, and then I looked out at our families split into the bride and groom section and I realized that we are all family now. Because we united as man and wife, we united our families. We are all one.". My favorite wedding day moment was right before we did our first look. My husband was already standing in our favorite spot with his eyes closed, under the huge Bradford Pear tree in the yard, waiting with the photographer. I was hiding behind the corner of the house, and I peaked through a shrub to see him. I physically could not contain my excitement as I began jumping up and down repeating to the other photographer "I see him. He's so handsome. I am so excited!". I could not wait to start this life with him by my side as my husband. In that moment I realized just how lucky I am and I never want to forget that feeling. The feeling that we are the only thing on this Earth that matters.
