Alyssa + Joshua's Louisville Wedding

Alyssa and Joshua envisioned a wedding day filled with meaningful details that reflected their relationships, traditions, and personalities. Surrounded by large wedding parties, they spent the evening before the celebration with some of the people who have had the greatest impact on their lives. Alyssa and her bridesmaids gathered at the Guest House on Story, where they enjoyed mimosas, music, and laughter, while Joshua and his groomsmen stayed with a family friend.

One of Alyssa’s college friends—and a bridesmaid—officiated the ceremony, making the exchange of vows especially personal. Throughout the ceremony, she shared stories that reflected the couple's relationship and reminded guests that a wedding day is one of the few occasions when all of the people who matter most gather together in one place. The reception continued that spirit of celebration with a lively photo booth, glow sticks that kept the dance floor glowing all evening, and thoughtful personal touches woven throughout the décor. To honor a beloved family member who had passed away, the couple incorporated blue flowers into their floral design as a quiet tribute. They also included the Hora and the breaking of the glass to celebrate meaningful family traditions. As devoted cat parents, they partnered with their venue to create specialty cocktails inspired by their pets, while a seating chart displayed on a vintage mirror highlighted the historic elegance of The Olmsted.

Looking back, Alyssa describes the celebration simply: "Our day was truly magical, and we'd relive it in a heartbeat."

Guests ended the evening with a classic white wedding cake featuring raspberry filling before the couple shared their first dance to "From the Ground Up" by Dan + Shay.

Their advice from Alyssa and Joshua for future couples is to focus on what truly matters. "Don't worry about the small things," they shared. "Your day will be special because of who you surround yourself with. Take it in, cherish the photos, and remember that you're going to be married at the end of the day!"
