Carla + Tobijah's Versailles Wedding!
Carla and Tobijah were married in Versailles, with a celebration shaped by their shared upbringing in small Kentucky towns. With a focus on community and intention, the couple prioritized vendors who reflected their values while also capturing the bluegrass landscape and the essence of where they come from. The day began at the church the groom’s family has attended for generations, grounding the celebration in a place already rich with history.
Their ceremony took place at Castle Hill Winery and was officiated by the bride’s grandfather, adding a personal layer to the moment. Throughout the day, details reflected both practicality and meaning. During cocktail hour, a Kona Ice truck offered relief from the summer heat, while the groom’s mother presented hand woven leis to the wedding party as a gesture of respect and friendship. The couple incorporated rented florals and décor to align with their desire for sustainability, alongside Kentucky barbecue carving stations and wine from the venue to carry the celebration into the evening.
Under marquee letters, guests gathered around a lively dance floor, with a DJ and curated photo booth backdrop adding to the atmosphere. Carla describes the day as rooted in connection, noting that “our wedding represented the intentional relationship between people, places, practicality.” Set to “Loving You on My Mind” by Chris Stapleton for their first dance, the evening ultimately reflected what mattered most to them—“it felt like a sweet evening at home.”
